DU QUOIN -- Lois Jean Simon, 89, of Du Quoin, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Jean was a homemaker.
She was born June 17, 1930 in Dowell, the daughter of Joseph Sr. and Flossie (Privette) Jaroski. She married Norman D. Simon on Nov. 29, 1952 in Pinckneyville, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2017.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Cindy Fuhrhop of Ava and Lisa (Kevin) Geissler of Carbondale; two grandchildren, Michael (Alison) Fuhrhop of Ava and Morgan Geissler of Carbondale; three great-grandchildren, Oliver Fuhrhop, Johanna Fuhrhop and Silas Fuhrhop, all of Ava; and her caregivers Dorothy and Dan Hinton.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one granddaughter, Allison J. Fuhrhop; one great-granddaughter, Danica Fuhrhop; one sister, Delores Bohnert; and three brothers, Joseph Jaroski, Lee Jaroski and Butch Jaroski.
Per Jean's request, cremation services were conducted. There will be no public visitation or funeral service.
