Roger Lee Young, 88, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 5:04 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Randolph County Care Center in Sparta, Illinois.
He was born to the late Philip A. and Teresa M. (nee Schuline) Young on March 30, 1931.
He married Romana Klein on Oct. 21, 1953 in Chester.
Roger Lee was the owner of several businesses and was a car salesman.
He was life member of the Chester American Legion Post #487, Chester V.F.W. Post #3553, the Chester Knights of Columbus #3790 and the Sparta Knights of Columbus #6577.
He was an Illinois Army National Guard veteran, serving in the Korean War.
Roger is survived by his wife, Romana Young of Chester; two sons, Alan (Sharon) Young of Sparta and John (Irene) Young of Iowa City, Iowa; one daughter, May Sue (Robin) Monforton of Dayton, Ohio; brother Carl Young of Chester; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a fourth due in July; brother-in-law Delbert Klein of Chester; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Jim) Wilson of Desoto, Missouri and Nancy White of Springfield, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Paul Thomas Young; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Young and Betty Klein; and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Klein and George Marvin White.
Roger's wishes were to be cremated.
A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Chester Eagles Club, 402 Hacker St., Chester.
