MARION -- Mildred M. Rodd (nee Miller), of Schererville, Indiana, formerly of Marion, passed away on June 2, 2019 at the age of 88.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Thomas T. Rodd.

From growing up on a farm as one of eight children, to traveling around the country with her sailor of 70 years, she enjoyed life's simple pleasures -- a mockingbird's song, the fragrance of lilacs, and walking barefoot, whether it was on grass or on gravel.

She loved the music of Marty Robbins and Alabama, Mexican food, margaritas, and staying up late at night, laughing and playing cards until she couldn't keep her eyes open.

Her family was everything to her, and she devoted her life to loving and caring for them. She was dearly loved by everyone who knew her, and she leaves us with the special memories of the silly, tough, but always loving, lady she was.

Mildred is survived by children, Karen Rodd (Bill MacLeod), Brenda (John) Callahan, Janice (Steve) Jowers, and Glenn (Karen) Rodd. She also was blessed with five amazing grandchildren, Bradley, Nathan, Spencer, Krysta and Kyle, and three too-cute-for-words great-grandsons, John Michael, Elijah Rodd, and Calvin James.

A Celebration of Life honoring both Mildred and Tom will be held at Grange Hall Freewill Baptist Church, 9950 Grassy Road in Marion at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 22. Visitation with service begins at 11 a.m. Interment is immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at https://alzfdn.org/.
