June M. Runge, 73, of Walsh, Illinois, passed away at 3:27 a.m., on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at her residence.
She was born to the late Norman and Marie (nee Korando) Poenitske on Aug. 13, 1945 in Chester, Illinois.
June married Roger Runge on March 17, 1962 in Chester; he survives. She worked as the head librarian at Central Public Library in Walsh for 22 years.
June always loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellis Grove.
Survivors include her husband, Roger Runge, of Walsh; two daughters, Robin (Carl) Crawford of Ellis Grove and Tracy (Charles) Penford of Walsh; three brothers, Gerald (Kathleen) Poenitske of Walsh, Gary (Jenny) Poenitske of Steeleville and John Poenitske of Steeleville; three sisters, Donna (Dennis) Schilling of Taylorville, Tammy (Brad) Hayes of Edinburg and Cindy (Tom) Pigford of Sparta; five grandchildren, Mindy (Shawn) Riley, Jessica (Brandon) Jordan, Dakota Crawford (Kellie VanSant), Jessica Penford and Samuel (Jennifer) Penford; two great-grandchildren, Connor Jordan and Cole Crawford; and many nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ruth Ederer.
The funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ellis Grove, with Father Larry Lemay officiating. Interment will be at St. Pius V Catholic Cemetery in Walsh.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and again from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Monday, at Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester.
Memorials to Shriner's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
