Isabelle "Izzy" A. Bendorf, 94, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 11:58 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in Chester.
She was born to the late Leo and Catherine (nee Petrowske) Scheltgen on Feb. 27, 1925 in Fort Gage, Illinois.
Isabelle married Edward "Slick" Bendorf on Nov. 26, 1949 in Chester, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2011.
She worked in the dietary department of Memorial Hospital in Chester for 19 years.
Isabelle was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Chester. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She is survived by five children, Barbara (Jack) Abernathy of Perryville, Missouri, Anita Chandler of Chester, Lois Wingerter of Chester, David (Michelle) Bendorf of Rockwood and Chris (Steve) Schwartz of Chester; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one infant son; two sons-in-law; one grandson; one granddaughter-in-law; one brother and one sister.
The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, also at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.
Memorials are requested to First Baptist Church, in Chester.
