Virginia L. Moore, 90, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 5:25 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at Independence Care Center, Perryville, Missouri.

She was born to the late Charles A. Moore Sr. and Hazel (nee Cotton) Moore on Oct. 16, 1928 in Claryville, Missouri.

Virginia married Vince J. Moore on Jan. 18, 1947 in Chester; he preceded her in death on May 11, 2004.

She worked at Moore & Wittenborn Thriftway for more than 25 years.

Virginia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. She was also a member of the St. Mary's Ladies Altar Sodality.

She is survived by one son, Terry (Joni) Moore, of Chester; two daughters, Pamela (Ronald) McKenzie of Chester and Trisha Moore of Chesterfield, Missouri; one sister, Anna (Gerry) Hindman of Murphysboro; four grandchildren, Terri Beth Wingerter, Timothy Moore, Thomas Moore and Elizabeth LaRosa-Moore; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie Duvall, Chris Toledo and Michelle McKenzie; three great-grandchildren, Alex Moore, Kalyn Wingerter and Kamryn Wingerter; and one step-great-granddaughter, Alexa Duvall.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Charles Moore Jr.; and two sisters, Mildred Decker and Romana Huff.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Pechacek Funeral Homes, in Chester, officiated by the Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 27 and again from 7:30-11 a.m. on Tuesday, at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Chester.

Memorials are requested to St. Mary's Catholic School and for Masses.
