Margaret Marie (Mitchell) Huitzacua, 84, of Rockford died peacefully at home surrounded by family in Rockford Sunday morning, March 31, 2019.

Margaret was born to Vern and Gladys Mitchell Aug. 25, 1935, in Benton. She grew up in Benton with her two brothers and two sisters: Bob, John, Jane and Mary. She graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 1953, and shortly after moved to Rockford with two of her close friends.

Wilfrid Huitzacua met Margaret in 1954, and they were married in 1955. After marrying Wilfrid, they happily remained together for the next 64 years. Raising a family with three children, running a business (Wil-Tec Design) side by side with her husband, and going on numerous adventures and travels.

Margaret's greatest love was spending time with family for holidays and life's special moments. She also enjoyed watching her Chicago Cubs, organizing party gatherings for family and friends, going to her grandkids' events, and always making special treats to eat for everyone.

Margaret will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sorely missed by her family. She was a kind, gentle, caring, loving woman to everyone who knew her.

Margaret is survived by her devoted husband, Wilfrid; sisters Jane and Mary; brother John; daughter Christina; son Dr. Bryan (Kathy Cockrum); grandkids Jason and Brandon Leviskas, Ashley (Mike), Dr. Austin (Leah); great-grandsons Logan and Camden. Also survived by estranged daughter Lori (Mike) Hevrin and her three adult children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Gladys Mitchell, and brother Bob.

In lieu of a funeral, Margaret decided to continue on in her giving spirit, and in honor of her two grandsons who pursue the medical field, has donated her body to science. Once her ashes are returned, family and friends will be notified of a celebration of life party and service.
