Opal L. Spani went to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully at Franklin Hospital at 10:30 p.m. March 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family.
She was 65 years of age and was born to Margie Holland and Melvin Jones in Benton on Sept. 6, 1953. She was married to Phillip Spani, and he preceded her in death April 23, 2011. She was a homemaker, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved stock car races.
Opal is survived by her two children, Meredith Braden of Benton, Ky., and Edward Braden Jr. of Benton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Melva Bennett of Benton; and two brothers, Ralph Jones of West City and Donald Jones of Benton.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie A. Holland of Benton; father Melvin Jones of Indiana; stepfather Delbert Holland of Benton; two brothers, Paul Jones of Benton and Kenneth G. Jones of Benton; and two sisters, Marjorie Walker of Vergennes and Gloria Barnfield of Benton.
