DU QUOIN -- Virginia L. Roberts, 93, formerly of Du Quoin, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Geneseo.

Virginia was born March 4, 1925, in Du Quoin, to Joseph Sims and Elsie (Wright) Alvis.

Virginia was known for her work at the Southern Barbecue and Mallory Manufacturing in Du Quoin in the 1940s and 50s. She was a dedicated wife and mother who enjoyed her home, especially being able to cook for her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Don Roberts, one brother, and one daughter, Debbie Coffland.

She is survived by her son, Kevin and his wife, Emily, of Osco, Illinois; her stepdaughter, Linda (Roberts) Aboussie of St. Louis; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24 at Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Joe Wagner officiating. Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
