Michael Joseph Speers, 62, retired Warrant Officer 4, U.S. Army, of Gardner, Kansas and formerly of Marion, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018 at Olathe Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.
A celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 306 E Madison St., Gardner, Kansas.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. before the service, also at the church. Inurnment with military honors will be at a later date in Coal Bank Springs Cemetery, Marion.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to cancer research.

Michael was born Aug. 25, 1956 in Marion to Joe and Helen (Keister) Speers.
He graduated from Marion High School and attended two years at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Michael served in the U.S. Army, retiring in 2001 after 20 years. He began working at the United States Postal Office in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a member of the Postal Union and enjoyed dancing with the Gardner Docey Dandies.
Michael was a big car enthusiast and sports fan. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Royals play.
He loved camping with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite band was "Chicago." He will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his children, Samuel Michael (Jessica) Speers of Spring Hill, Kansas, Thomas Scott Speers and Eric Joseph (Alison Marie) Speers all of Overland Park, Kansas; siblings, Peggy Jo Bailey and Pamela Louise Carter, both of Marion; Wade William (Tamorah Lynn) Speers of Bixby, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren, Tyler and Levi.
