Mrs. Murl Springs, age 91, of the Dallasania community in rural Carrier Mills passed away at 7:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 19, 2018.

Murl was born on March 9, 1927 in Saline County to the late Irvin and Lu Wright Travelstead. On June 29, 1947 she was united in marriage to Charles Springs. Charles preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2011.

She was a member of the Faith Chapel Church in rural Carrier Mills. Murl graduated high school and immediately went to work. Her working career spanned being a secretary for the attorneys Dennis and Rumsey, secretary for the Harrisburg First Baptist Church, and a secretary for the Green Thumb program.

Murl is survived by a daughter, Donna Hearn of Carrier Mills; a son, Tom (Pam) Springs of Vero Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, Leslie (Shaun) Galovich of Abilene, Texas, and J.T. (Emily) Hearn of Murray, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Adalyn and Emery Galovich and Braxton and Grayson Hearn; a niece, Teresa Lee; and nephews Gale Travelstead and Jack Travelstead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law Charles Hearn. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Rena Owen, Mary Blue and Ethel Travelstead; and her brothers, Don, Wayne, Bertis and Earl Travelstead. She was the last of her parent's children.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Chuck DePriest will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Absher-Nicholson on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the Midwest Distribution Center for Disaster Relief or Faith Chapel Church in lieu of flowers.
