Earl Wayne Stowers, Sr., 76, of Du Quoin, passed away at 5:02 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018 at the Du Quoin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Earl Wayne was an over-the-road truck driver. He had also been a Gold Plate van driver. Earl Wayne was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Du Quoin Eagles.

He was born Jan. 16, 1942 in Du Quoin, the son of Raymond David and Sibyl Louise (Jones) Stowers. He married JoAnn Fox on July 2, 1994 in Du Quoin and she survives.

He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin; children, Laurie Ann Tirado, Earl Wayne Stowers Jr., Melissa Stowers, all of Du Quoin, Delbert Doerflein Jr. of Alabama and Deborah Poe of Du Quoin; one brother, Arthur Stowers of Sparta; grandchildren, Richie, Travis, Heather, Chico, Brandon, William, Krystina, Jessica, Amanda, Shelby, Amber, Hannah and Bethany; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Stowers.

Per Earl Wayne's request, cremation services were held. There will be no public visitation or funeral services.

Friends may make memorials to the American Cancer Society or Dementia Association and will be accepted at the funeral home. Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin is in charge of arrangements.
