DU QUOIN -- Kenneth W. Bell, 78, of Du Quoin, passed away at 2:53 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Kenny had worked as a tipple foreman at Consol #2, #3, #4, and #5 mines for 18 years. He received his Associate Degree from VTI as a draftsman. He worked for five years at International Harvester and seven years at Phelps Dodge in Murphysboro, Du Quoin and Alabama. Kenny designed the two-story addition at the Du Quoin Phelps Dodge facility. He was of the Christian faith. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited since 1979.

He was born Dec. 25, 1939 in Centralia, the son of Finis W. and Irene (Jolliff) Bell.

He married Judy C. Woll on Aug. 29, 1959 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Du Quoin and she survives.

He is also survived by one daughter, Lisa (John) Greatting of Sparta; sons Daniel Bell and Keith (Zebada) Bell, all of Du Quoin; sister Terry (Larry) Higgerson of Du Quoin; seven grandchildren, Shane (Arielle) Bell, Ryan Bell, Bianca Bell, Waylon Bell, Rubey Bell, Lola Bell and Dolly Bell; nephew Lance Higgerson; and niece Kelley Englehardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Tim Bell; and grandson Trenton Bell.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 30 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Gary Darnell officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.

Burial will be in the Primitive Baptist Cemetery in Du Quoin.

Friends may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the Perry County Humane Society and will be accepted at the funeral home.
