John Wesley 'Buddy' Pool of Harrisburg

John Wesley "Buddy" Pool, age 87, of Harrisburg, passed away on Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born on May 9, 1930 in Eldorado, the son of the late Bob and Edith (Marler) Pool.

Mr. Pool is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Harrawood Pool.

He is also survived by daughters Becky (David) Spurlock and Janie (Aaron) Jackson; four grandchildren, Alexis (Billy) Hunziker, Joey (Katie) Jackson, Amy (Mat) Mings and Sara Spurlock; four great-grandchildren, Viviana and Gianna Rose Mings, Oliver Jackson, and Alexander Wesley Hunziker.

He is also survived by brothers-in-law Raymond (Beryl) Harrawood and Ron (Paula) Harrawood; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Benefield and Judy Pool.

Mr. Pool proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954. For 62 years, he was in the automobile business -- as the owner of Pool Pontiac Buick and Buddy Pool Motors. He was a dealer for Pontiac, Buick, Rambler, AMC, Chevrolet, and Jeep, and sold new and used vehicles.

He was a member of the McKinley Avenue Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years.

Mr. Pool will be remembered as a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Interment was at Lindale Cemetery where a private graveside service was held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 with the Rev. Ron Reed officiating.
