Freda Louise Kuppart, age 102, a resident of Shawneetown and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at Wabash Christian Retirement Village in Carmi.

Freda was born on Oct. 10, 1915 to Louie and Emma (Parks) Schwartz. On Sept. 7, 1935 she married Carl Kuppart. They were married for 44 years when he passed away.

Freda was a longtime member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church, and a good and loving Christian. Freda was one of the original quilters of the church. She quilted for many years until her health began to decline and she moved in with her daughter in Shawneetown.

Freda was a wonderful cook. Her fried dried apple pies would melt in your mouth.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Tom) Harrelson of Shawneetown; son Jim (Jan) Kuppart of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Kellie (Glen) Beal, Beth (Robert) Maynard, Mark Speer, Roman (Julie) Kuppart, and Nick (Carri) Kuppart; four great-grandchildren, Zachery Beal, Kacy Speer, Evan Maynard and Lauren Maynard; two great-great-grandchildren, Wade Godfrey and Cameron Kuppart; and several nieces and nephews.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl; son, Larry Kuppart; and two brothers, Doyle Schwartz and Harold Schwartz.

Freda was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Ron Reed will officiate and burial will follow in Bankston Fork Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Reed Funeral Chapel.
