Ramona Sharp, formerly of Carbondale

Ramona J. Sharp, 87, of Beecher, formally of Carbondale, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30. 2017 in Kankakee.

Ramona was born Oct. 9, 1930 in Carbondale, the daughter of William and Laverne (nee Hall) McDaniel. On Jan. 29, 1950, she married Howard Sharp who survives.

She was a clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad. Ramona enjoyed playing cards, bowling and especially volunteering at the veterans home.

Surviving are her husband, Howard, from Beecher; son Thomas (Delinda) Sharp of Lynwood; son Gordon Sharp of Monee; daughter-in-law Donna Sharp; three grandchildren, Brad, Matt and Maria; two great grandchildren, Logan and Brooklyn; and brothers Morris (Janet) McDaniel of Carbondale and Gary McDaniel of Marian, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Bruce Sharp.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Hack Funeral Home in Beecher. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 7 p.m. Wednesday, officiated by the Rev. Tom Ewing. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale at a later date.
