Maurice Eric Ricky Nix of Benton

Maurice Eric Ricky Nix, 73, of Benton passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017.

Ricky was born Aug. 2, 1944, to Maurice Newton "Budd" Nix and Olavee Stucke.

He married Mary Katherine Lintner July 3, 1965.

Ricky was the owner of Rick's Tire Service in Benton since 1974 and U.S.A.C. Silver Crown owner for over 20 years with car 43.

He was a fan of Indy 500, A.J. Foyt and Johnny Parsons Jr.

He proudly served during the Vietnam era in the U.S. Army.

Ricky was a loving husband and father who had a larger-than-life personality and a generous spirit.

Ricky was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Benton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nix; daughter Rebecca Lynn Nix and husband Frank Colacicco of Naperville; two sisters, Maureen Souers of O'Fallon and Karen Galbraith (Bruce) of Du Quoin; stepsister Judy Dardaganian of Dallas, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Linda Nix and stepmother Margaret Nix.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at First Christian Church. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 with visitation after 10 a.m. at First Christian Church with Pastor Kurt Sanders officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall or the Benton/West City Ministerial Alliance.
