Betty J. McCree, 94, of Carterville, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville. Pastor Bob Morwell will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Carterville or to Anne West Lindsey District Library.

Betty was born on Oct. 12, 1923, in Hurst, to Willie and Mabel (Hart) Cobb. She married Frank "Buck" L. McCree on Apr. 12, 1944, in Carterville. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1984.

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Daniel "Bugs") Haas of Carterville; son, Mike (Linda) McCree of Goreville; grandchildren, Travis (Liz) Haas of Carterville and Lindsey (Fred) Falmier of Cambria; great-grandchildren, Emma and Frank Haas and Bram and Iyla Falmier; and sister, Sue Kiefer of Carterville.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Jane Ann; sisters, Wilma McKinnies and Gilda "Dean" Tyner; and brothers, Ronald "Ronnie", Charles and Lowell Cobb.

For 42 years, Betty worked at the Carterville Dairy Queen as their day manager. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Carterville.

Betty was involved in various community events and organization throughout the years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the PRH Club in Carterville; volunteered with Hospice of Southern Illinois, Gum Drops, Anne West Lindsey Library, and Carterville Heritage Museum; and played pinochle and bridge in three different clubs.
