LEAMINGTON -- Willard E. Rodgers, 89, died peacefully at his home on Nov. 14, 2017, surrounded by his family.
Willard was born Sept. 30, 1928, near Herod, to the late John and Stella (Milligan) Rodgers. He was first married to Ethel Rodgers, who preceded him in death in 1995. He then married the former Mary Casey, who survives.
Willard was in the construction business for almost 40 years in the Bethalto area. His work ethic was second to none throughout his entire life.
After retiring, he enjoyed traveling, riding horses and visiting with friends, where he always had a funny thing to say and would kid around a little.
Willard and Mary attended Crossroads Church in Norris City. He will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Leamington; two sons, Michael (Karen) Rodgers of Bethalto and John "Jay" (Annette) Rodgers of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin; two daughters, Pam (Fred) Pleggee of Tomahawk, Wisconsin, and Brenda (John) Bramley of Brighton; stepson, Curtis Casey of Equality; stepdaughter, Nancy (Doug) Winter of Carmi; sister, Norma Lorch of Fort Worth, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Estella Rodgers; stepson, Steve Casey; and siblings, James, Marie, Haskell, Paul, Eugene and Velma.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, in Crossroads Church in Norris City with the Rev. Chad Everett officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, in Rose Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Bethalto. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
