Harry Richard 'Dick' Moore, formerly of Harrisburg

HARRISBURG -- Harry Richard "Dick" Moore, 79, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at his home, after a devastating battle with lung cancer.

He was born Aug. 22, 1938, to the late Harry "Pickle" and Mildred (Palister) Moore of Eldorado.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Alberta (Bebout) Moore; two sons from a previous marriage, Brad Moore of Carbondale and Wade (Susie) Moore of Harrisburg; two stepchildren, Beth Bowers of Harrisburg and Randy (Theresa) Partain of Carrier Mills; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Dick grew up in Eldorado helping his parents run Moore's Modern Cleaners. He made a career out of running his own chiropractic office and working at Peabody Coal Company for many years.

For the past 30 years, Dick and Alberta have made their home in Venice, Florida, where he retired from Albertson's Grocery.

Dick briefly raced motorcycles in his 30s and was an avid fan of Kentucky Wildcat basketball, along with western and James Bond movies. He also loved CB radio and earned his HAM radio operator's license.

Dick was laid to rest in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg was in charge of arrangements.
