HERRIN -- Randy Allen Evans, 56, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, in Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Randy worked for Physical Plant services at SIU in Carbondale.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during Desert Storm in Kuwait, Iraq and Germany.

Randy was born Dec. 21, 1960, in Murphysboro to Joseph and Naomi (Chandler) Evans.

Survivors include his son, Jake Evans of Harrisburg; longtime companion, Jeanine Bulliner-Ross of Herrin; siblings, Frieda Spencer of Fairfield, Ohio, Virgil W. Cripps of Pomona, Charles Richard Evans and his wife Mary of Omaha, Nebraska, and Vickie and Terry Riley of Carbondale; sister-in-law, Helen Evans of Harrisburg; several nieces and nephews; and two feline companions, Fuzzy and Bubba.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joseph "Jack" Evans, Jeff Evans and Robert "Shorty" Evans.

In accordance with Randy's wishes, there will be no formal services. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Oct. 23, at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. Military rites will be conducted by Herrin American Legion and VFW, Carterville American Legion and the Illinois Army National Guard Honor Detail.

Memorial donations are suggested and may be made to a scholarship fund to be set up for his son, Jake. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
