ENERGY -- Minnie Irene Wright, 94, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, in Herrin Hospital.

She was born Dec. 26, 1922, in Anna, the daughter of Ottis and Nellie (Champion) Alger.

Minnie was a member of First Christian Church in Herrin. She was active in church throughout her entire life; however, First Christian Church in Herrin was the only church she ever officially joined.

She worked outside of the home as a title processor and notary, assisted in various office functions and helped others as a home-care facilitator.

Survivors include her daughter, Emily Evansco of Marion; son, Scott and Barb Wright of Johnston City; six grandchildren, Martha Stark, Gary Sullivan, Tanya Prior, Stuart Burns, David Evansco and Robann Grass; seven great-grandchildren, Christina Stark, Josh and Casey Prior, Holly Slusher, Cole and Derek Grass and Micah Evansco; and two great-great-grandchildren, Luke and Kaleb Slusher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Herbert Spurlock and Clearon Wright; two daughters, Peggy Sullivan and Sharon Burns; six sisters; and one brother.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Rhonda for helping care for their mom. She loved Rhonda dearly.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home in Herrin with the Rev. Ron Henwood and the Rev. Derek Levins officiating. A funeral luncheon will follow at First Christian Church in Herrin.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. For those who wish to attend, inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in Hinchcliffe Cemetery in Cambria.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available and accepted at Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home, 201 S. 13th St., Herrin, IL 62948.
