Dewey F. Wilfong, 95, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 12:20 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2017 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home.
He was born to the late Jacob and Mary (nee Killian) Wilfong on May 7, 1922 in Patton, Missouri.
He married Marie Carnahan Decker on March 3, 1979 in Chester, Illinois. She survives.
Dewey was a retired feed loader for Con Agra.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Chester. He was a life member of VFW Kaskaskia Post No. 35553, a past member of Masonic Lodge No. 72 in Chester and a Shriner.
Dewey was an Army veteran who served in WWII and Korea. Survivors include wife: Marie Wilfong, Chester; one sister: Daisy Moore, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one foster grandchild: Joe (Terri) Hunt, St. Louis, Mo.; three stepchildren: Janet (Jim) Straight , Chester; Karen (Lee) Eggemeyer, Waterloo and Larry (Deb) Decker, Waterloo.
Additional survivors include nine step-grandchildren: Cory, Josh (Misty), Dylan, Adam (Jill), Emilie (Doug), Travis, Lauryn, Sara and Zack; five step-great-grandchildren: Devin, Abby, Ayda, Myla and Henry.
Dewey was preceded in death by parents, four brothers - Everett, Harley, John and Floyd Wilfong; three sisters - Grace Jacobs, Oma Jane Wilfong and one infant sister; one foster grandchild - Tina Glastetter - and one stepdaughter - Susan Layman.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester with The Rev. Phil Keeton officiating.
Interment will be in Post Oak Cemetery in Patton, Mo. Visitation is Monday, 8:00 am -- 10:00 am at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester.
Memorials can be made to First Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Chester.
