Fern M. Weber, 89, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:40 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Integrity Healthcare of Chester.
She was born to the late Vernon and Alma (nee Knoll) Wittenborn on May 2, 1928 in Chester, Illinois. Following her father's death, she was raised by her mother, Alma, and her stepfather, Carl Breithaupt.
She married Leonard A. Weber on September 6, 1946 in Chester. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2007.
She had worked as the supervisor of timekeeping and payroll at Chester Mental Health Center and was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Chester.
By her example, she taught her children and grandchildren how to love their family and friends unconditionally. Fern is survived and will be lovingly remembered by four children - Lynn (Timothy) Stibrich Gretna, La.; Mavis (Boniface) Gross Foley, Ala.; Kevin (Monica Bert) Weber Energy and Brad (Vicki) Weber Chester.
Additional survivors include two sisters, Carol Breithaupt Miner, Livingston, Texas, and Gloria Breithaupt Blackburn, Wesley Chapel, Fla.
Eight grandchildren - Shawn Wittenborn, Joshua Stibrich, Brandon Wittenborn, Amber Wittenborn Johnson, Nathan Stibrich, Amanda Weber, Bethany Weber Berner and Rebecca Weber.
Twelve great-grandchildren - Anthony and Gavin Wittenborn, Brayden, Aubree, Landen, Hunter, Kenzee, Isabella and Emmaleigh Wittenborn, Luke and Lizzy Stibrich and Braylee Berner; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Fern was preceded in death by parents and stepfather, husband, and one brother -- Allard Wittenborn.
It was Fern's wishes to be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at St. John Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that memorials be donated to St. John's Radio Broadcast, which was started by her late husband, Leonard, or the St. John Lutheran Church -- New Facility Fund.
Donations are being accepted at the Funeral Home. Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home, Chester, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.
