Stephen Logan of Du Quoin

Stephen Logan, 74, of Du Quoin passed away at 12:48 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Stephen was born Nov. 26, 1942, in Du Quoin, a son to Oran B. and Flossie M. (House) Logan. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. On Jan. 2, 1962, he married Caroline Danbury in Nashville, and she survives. Stephen retired after 40 years in quality assurance at Phelps- Dodge/General Cable in Du Quoin. He was a member of Sunfield United Methodist Church, the Du Quoin American Legion for 46 years and a lifetime member of "Hog" Harley Owner Group. During his life he enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially Harley Davidson.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline Logan of Du Quoin; three children, Brett (Mary Kay) Logan of Du Quoin, Selena (Danny) McElvain of Pinckneyville and Darren Logan of Du Quoin; two brothers, John "Stanley" (Sue) Logan of Du Quoin and Marion L. (Pam) Logan of Pinckneyville; one sister, Beth Ann (Steve) Lazenby of Pinckneyville; one grandson, Camlin Logan of Du Quoin; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017, at Pyatt Funeral Home in Du Quoin with the Rev. Erin Totten officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Du Quoin with military graveside rites by the Du Quoin VFW and American Legion.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 16 and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 17 at Pyatt Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
