Catharine E. Bluege, 82, of Belvidere, went home to her Lord on Friday, May 26, 2017, at Alpine Fireside surrounded by her loving family after a long illness.
Born March 28, 1935 in Chester, Illinois, she was the daughter of Carl and Mary (Mills) Bewie.
She married E. Robert Bluege on November 17, 1956 in Mattoon. Catharine and her late husband were the owners of Western Auto and Bluege's Bike Shop in Belvidere for a total of 45 years.
She made her spiritual home at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Catharine loved biblical archeology, and biblical studies. Most of all, she loved children and her family.
Catharine is loved and missed by her children - Shawn (Todd) Miller, James (Lisa) Bluege and Colette (John) Foley; grandchildren - Emily (Andrew) Janetzke, Erica Bluege, Melissa (Adam) Keip, Allyson Miller, Joey (Catherine) Bluege, Mollie (Colt) Boldman, Eli Bluege, Gabby Bluege, Ariana Foley, Joshua Foley and Annie Foley; great-grandchildren - Julia, Hannah, Caleb, and Matthias Janetzke and Liam Keip; sister - Laura "Pal" Rao and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Lynn Bluege, son John Bluege and granddaughter Lauren Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 1 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008 with Rev. Keith Richards officiating.
A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7p.m., Wednesday, May 31 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008.
Burial will follow in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
