Mary Anne Romans, 68, of Pinckneyville passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Pinckneyville Community Hospital.
Mary Anne was born Feb. 17, 1949, in Galesburg, a daughter to Galen Everette and Glenora Anne (Weber) Mitchell. On Aug. 3, 1979, she married Dennis J. "Sarge" Romans in Johnston City, and he preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2010. She was a member and secretary of First United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville, a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Roy Miller Post 644 in Fairview and an active member of Fairview Order of Eastern Star. Mary Anne was a member of her church choir and also was the church pianist until her health kept her from participating. She enjoyed teaching piano lessons, crocheting, puzzles, adult coloring books and especially spending time with her dog, Hedi Nicole Romans.
Survivors include her daughter, Shanda Rei Romans of Tucson, Ariz.; and two half-sisters, Irma Matthews of Kingswood, Texas, and Kathy Jessop of Westville, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dennis J. "Sarge" Romans; one brother, Donald Mitchell; and one half-brother, David Harris.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville with the Rev. Jim Barnett officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview with the Rev. Jim Barnett officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Pinckneyville, the American Cancer Society or diabetes research.
