WHITTINGTON -- Marien Agnes Bornheimer, 76, passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton with Father Urban Osuji officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery near Whittington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at Leffler Funeral Home in Benton, where a rosary service will be conducted at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Marien Bornheimer to the Bornheimer Scholarship Fund at Rend Lake College and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bornheimer was born Jan. 20, 1940, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Leona (Kordus) Lewandowski. She married Robert Cyril Bornheimer on Oct. 1, 1960, and he survives.

Marien's working career was in bookkeeping and accounting.

She enjoyed crafts, especially making Memorial Day flowers. She had a love and passion for pets, and rescued many. She also enjoyed cooking large meals for family and friends.

Marien was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton and enjoyed being involved with the church.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert C. Bornheimer of Whittington; son, Robert Bornheimer and wife Mary of Trenton; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Netta Soczka, Clara Janz and Lorraine Zdrojewski; and an infant brother.
