BENTON -- Evelyn F. (Knaus) Crowe, 89, formerly of Belleville, born April 23, 1927, in East St. Louis, passed away at 8:15 a.m.Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, in Stonebridge Senior Living Center in Benton, surrounded by her family.  

  

Evelyn worked as a dispatcher for Ameritech Phone Company.

 

She was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Belleville, Rob Morris Chapter 98 Order of the Eastern Star, Ainad Belles, Pride of High Green Lodge, Wednesday Club, Living Information of Today and Pioneers of America (Telephone Retirees Club).

  

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lee West Crowe; parents, Ernest W. and Frances M. (Klaus) Knaus Sr.; and brother, Ernest W. Knaus Jr.

  

Survivors include four sisters-in-law, Evelyn Guth, June Dublar, Ruby Crowe and Sue and husband Steve Pate Sr; brother-in-law, Richard Crowe; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

  

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, in Kurrus Funeral Home, 1773 Frank Scott Parkway West, in Belleville with the Rev. Larry Patton officiating.  Private family interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Belleville.

 

Pate Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Benton is in charge of local arrangements.

 

Memorials may be made in Evelyn's honor to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
