WHITTINGTON — The Rend Lake Conservancy District Board of Trustees voted in favor of raising sewer rates during Monday’s regular meeting.
Manager Keith Thomason said rates would increase by 23 cents, from $3.74 to $3.97.
“We compared sewer rates with communities served by the district,” Thomason said. “Even with the increase, the rate is less than some communities.”
The sewer rate in Benton is $5.49 and in Mt. Vernon is $5.61, he said.
Trustees also voted to keep the tax levy at the current rate of $490,000, which is spread between Franklin and Jefferson counties and is based on the number of residences within the two counties.
