Four residents found themselves behind bars following an incident that occurred at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
Benton Police Chief Mike O'Neill reported that officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Railroad Street in Benton in response to a bar fight. The incident began between four females inside the bar and spilled out onto the street, O'Neill said.
Arrested were Candace L. Hernandez, 31, and Antoine A. Hernandez, 30, both of West City, Jose L. Tinaco, 27, of Benton, and Avalan M. Bennett, 18, of Lawrenceville.
According to the police report, Ryan D. Webb, 24, of Ewing, an employee of Brew City Lounge, and Jeremy D. Fleetwood, 22, of Marion were injured during the fight. Webb and Fleetwood were attempting to break up the fight when the boyfriends and husbands of the females involved started attacking them.
Webb received severe cuts to his neck and was later transported to a St. Louis hospital.
Fleetwood received several lacerations to his face and shoulder and was treated at a Mt. Vernon hospital.
O'Neill said both victims were injured with either a broken beer bottle or a knife.
All four subjects were arrested on charges of aggravated battery and mob action, and were transported to the Franklin County Jail Facility.
O'Neill said the subjects fled the scene when police arrived. Franklin County Sheriff's Office deputies captured Antoine Hernandez and Tinaco several blocks from the scene.
Benton police officers caught Candace Hernandez and Bennett not far from the establishment.
