The Rend Lake Fireworks Festival will be held on Saturday, July 4, at the Rend Lake Dam & Visitor Center.
The event begins at 4 p.m. Parking is $5 per vehicle, and that is a donation towards the fireworks.
Participants will enjoy live music provided by Sojourn from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the S.I. Concert Band from 8 to 9 p.m. The area’s largest fireworks display begins at 9:30 p.m. with live music from the S.I. Concert Band.
A free children’s area for ages 12 and under features face painting, crazy hair up-do’s by Studio RLC of Mt Vernon, the Smokehouse from the Sesser Fire Department, Air-Up Playground provided by our sponsors, and temporary tattoos and balloons from the Whittington Clowns.
Something new added this year to the Rend Lake Fireworks Festival is the Rend Lake Fireworks Carnival being held in the old Big John parking lot in the Rend Lake Shopping Plaza in West City.
The carnival will run from July 1 through 4.
Dining to Donate at Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar will be on Tuesday, June 16, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the 120 N. Central Street location in West City. This is a Rend Lake Fireworks fundraiser the entire community can participate in. Fifteen percent of the bill will be donated to this year’s Rend Lake Fireworks.
Dining to Donate fliers are available in the Benton-West City Area Chamber of Commerce office, 211 N. Main St., Benton. Participants in this fireworks fundraiser must present the Dining to Donate flier when paying for their meal. E-mail the chamber office at chamber@bentonwestcity.com for a flier.
