“Lest We Forget: The 11th Hour, of the 11th Day, of  the 11th Month”

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2671 and American Legion Post 280, both of Benton, will commemorate Veterans Day 2009 on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Memorial at Benton City Hall. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

The group will perform the traditional 21-gun salute and the flag will be lowered to half staff. “Taps” will be played.

Speakers for the event will include VFW Commander John Metzger and American Legion Commander Charles Paul. Benton Mayor Gary Kraft will make remarks, also. State Sen. Gary Forby and State Rep. John Bradley have been invited.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony, Metzger said.
