MARION -- After its meeting last week, the Marion Park District Board of Commissioners announced that the Aquatic Center will be closed for the Summer 2020 season.
Making the announcement on its Facebook page, the board cited "concerns regarding the health and safety of patrons and employees were at the foremost of this decision."
In addition, the board felt it would be impossible to operate the center under Gov. JB Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan, which limits socials gatherings to groups of 10 or less under Phase 3.
In its message, the board stated, "We are disappointed that these measures must be taken and look forward to the day when we can open all of our facilities and playgrounds."
