MARION -- It's been just over a week since Crown Brew Coffee owners Joshua Benitone and Jared Gravatt embarked on their own journey in the uncharted waters of COVID-19 with the goal of helping their fellow Marion business owners.

"Marion United," a livestream "telethon" is only days away, and the entertainment lineup for the event is set.

Appearing via Facebook Live from the stage at the Marion Cultural and Civic Center on April 3 will be Danny Brown, Ivas John Band, Kasey Rogers, Isaiah Paul, Heather Hammers, Dirt Choir, Leight July, and Jeremy T. McConaughey.

The City of Marion has thrown its support behind the event that is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. from the MCCC Facebook page.

"This is an opportunity to unite and endure this struggle together," said Benitone.

Donations are now being accepted through the event website at www.marion-united.com. There is also a link to purchase Marion United merchandise.

"This was a way to help a local business," said Benitone, noting that the items were locally-purchased, not donated. "We are buying all shirts at the full rate."

Gravatt and Benitone invested their own funds for the items.

"We have the resources to ensure this together," Benitone said.

All funds raised will be used to develop grants for local businesses.

Southern Illinois LOCAL Media Group and the Marion Republican are proud to be a media partner for this event.
