Continuing their mission of honoring outstanding people and their achievements, The Randolph Society Foundation has selected five honorees for their Class of 2020.

The individuals will be announced in this newspaper over five weeks beginning Feb. 7. At the end of the five weeks, the public is invited to a special reception at the Randolph County Courthouse on March 15, where the stories of the honorees will be shared, and plaques will be mounted on the honor wall. The reception begins at 4 p.m.

The honorees come from a variety of backgrounds and achievements including sports, entertainment, business, government and philanthropic endeavors. All must have passed away at least five years ago to be eligible, and all honorees were nominated by citizens of Randolph County.

The stories of the Randolph Society honorees will be submitted to the County Journal, North County News, and the Randolph County Herald Tribune for publication. Greater in-depth articles on each honoree will be placed on www.randolphsociety.org with historic pictures and videos.

Stories of the 15 previously inducted honorees can also be viewed on the Society webpage.

The Randolph Society Foundation was formed in 2016 in a joint venture with the Randolph County Historical Society and the Rotary Clubs of Chester, Red Bud, Sparta, and Steeleville.

The Class of 2020 will be the fourth group of outstanding Randolph County individuals honored for their achievements.

Board members of the Foundation include: Dr. Marc Kiehna, chairman; Justin Jeffers, treasurer; and members Emily Lyons, Cynthia Lawder, Jane Lucht, Dr. Lauren Kiehna, Mike Reed and Lori Hill. The Randolph Society Foundation board is mourning the recent death of Secretary Julie Gangloff.

• The Randolph Society Foundation is a registered 501c3 organization. Donations to the Foundation are used to further the vision of the Society: Remembering Our Past, Educating Our Future.
