It's beginning to look a little like Christmas

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS -- As the holidays draw near, there are several events to celebrate the season.

Here are some local holiday events:

Sunday, Dec. 1

• Holiday Meal: Noon at Highview Baptist Church, 784 Feazel Road, Harrisburg. Everyone welcome!

Saturday, Dec. 7

• Holiday Home Tour: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Harrisburg District Library, 2 W. Walnut St. Make plans to attend this year's Holiday Home Tour. You won't want to miss these beautiful homes decorated for the holiday.

• Visit Santa at Harrisburg District Library: 1 to 3 p.m. Santa will be on hand to visit children and have photos taken. Friends of the Library will have refreshments downstairs.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

• Harrisburg Lighting of the Christmas tree: 6 p.m. at Saline Creek Pioneer Village and Museum, 1600 S. Feazel St., Harrisburg.

Wednesday, Dec. 11

• The Living Christmas tree: 7 p.m. at the Family Life Outreach Center next to First Baptist Church of Galatia.

Thursday, Dec. 12

• Harrisburg Lights Parade: 6 p.m. at South Main Street, Harrisburg.

• The Living Christmas tree: 7 p.m. at the Family Life Outreach Center next to First Baptist Church of Galatia.

Saturday, Dec. 14

• Saline County Historical Society Christmas Program: 6 p.m. at Saline Creek Pioneer Village and Museum, 1600 S. Feazel St., Harrisburg.

• Harrisburg Villas of Holly Brook Christmas Craft Fair: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Villas of Holly Brook, 220 Ron Crank Drive, Harrisburg. Local craft vendors with their Christmas crafts and homemade candies. Free admission.

Sunday, Dec. 15

• The Living Christmas tree: 2 p.m. at the Family Life Outreach Center next to First Baptist Church of Galatia.
