• On Tuesday, Nov. 19 the Instant Pot Users will meet at 6 p.m. and the theme is Thanksgiving recipes. All who have an interest in using an electronic pressure cooker (does not have to be the Instant Pot brand) are welcome to attend. Reservations are required for this free event.

• 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21 is Illinois Secretary of State's Family Reading Night -- a great time to remember the importance of reading with children. Children are welcome to bring a stuffed animal and their adults to the Chester Library for activities and refreshments, before tucking in the stuffed animals for the night with a bedtime story. Participants can watch the library's Facebook page for fun photos of their stuffed animal's antics after hours at the library. Stuffed animals should be picked up the following day between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Reservations are appreciated for this free event.

• From 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22 the Friends of the Library are hosting a Friday Night Fun @ the Library for adults (21+) event. The theme for this program is Christmas Shopping HELP! The event will feature fun reviews and giveaways of inexpensive products from social media lists that are advertised as great stocking stuffers, 5-star products, etc. It will also feature items that are unique to Chester and tasting of "food gift" ideas from local businesses. A nominal participation fee will be required to save your spot. Limited adult beverages are permitted. Call the library for more information.

• Nov. 20 is the last day to pre-order "Ghosts by the Riverside: The Haunted History of Chester and Old Kaskaskia" by Shane Wagner to guarantee a copy by early December. Shane will be "book signing" at the library at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7.

• Reminder: Nov. 25 is the deadline to submit your donation to the time capsule that will be buried at the site of Chester's newest statue, Segar & Sherlock, on the Popeye Character Trail. Submissions should be dropped off or mailed to the Chester Public Library, 733 State St., Chester, IL. 62233.

• Contact the Chester Public Library at (618) 826-3711 or visit www.chesterpubliclibrary.com for additional information about these and other programs.
