A man was killed on Interstate 57 last Friday after he reportedly fled from a West City Police officer and then was struck while on foot by oncoming traffic.

The Illinois State Police report that a 40-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending final investigation, died following an incident that started around 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 with a West City police officer attempting to conduct a traffic stop in West City. The man, driving a 1996 Chrysler Sebring, fled southbound on I-57.
