The RALI (Rx Abuse Leadership Initiative) CARES educational trailer will stop at Sparta Housing Authority from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 12.

RALI Illinois is part of a national organization taking the trailer to communities across the country as part of its continued effort to educate communities and families on the importance of prevention in addressing the opioid crisis.

For the Sparta visit, RALI CARES and Code 3, a partner organization that builds bridges between law enforcement and citizens, are working with the Southern Illinois Substance Abuse Alliance and state Rep. Nathan Reitz to bring the trailer here.

The education trailer is an interactive experience set up as a mock teenage bedroom for families to walk through and learn how to identify possible warning signs of drug misuse.

Adults 21 years and older are welcome to tour the trailer at no cost.

The Sparta Housing Authority is at 307 N. Gardner. No appointments are necessary.

Prescription drug misuse can start at an early age. Education about the signs of drug misuse is important for parents, teachers and others who work with young people. For those struggling with addiction, early detection and recovery assistance can prevent their addiction from escalating.

• RALI of Illinois supports programs that prevent the misuse of prescription medicines so that more lives can be saved, by bringing together community leaders and elected officials who are committed to finding effective solutions and sharing ideas.
