JOHNSTON CITY -- Visitors to the Mike Dean Memorial Playground and Park can expect to see more new equipment added following Saturday's fundraiser.

Police Chief Will Stark said the Second Annual Touch-A-Truck was a huge success.

"I think we surpassed last year's total," he said.

Last year's event raised around $2,500.

The event has drawn good crowds both years. For a nominal fee, kids get an opportunity to get up close and personal with big rigs of all kinds, from semi trucks to tractors and even a helicopter.

Organizers also offer a pork steak dinner at the Scout Cabin.

"We sold out again this year," said Stark.

Stark said plans are to purchase more independent play accessories for the park, as well as shade over the benches.

"We will just keep adding play items," he said.

The next fundraiser is set for the Oct. 5-6, when the RC boat races return to Arrowhead Lake.
