Nearly 250 cars were parked around the Benton Square Saturday evening for the 28th- annual Rend Lake Car Show.
Organizers of the event said it was one of the largest turnouts on record.
The event was originally part of the Rend Lake Water Festival that takes places each year in May. The first show was held at the Benton City Park but was quickly relocated the next year to the square in hopes of attracting people to the businesses there.
This is the last year the show will be centered around the historic Franklin County courthouse as the county prepares for the building of a new facility.
