CARBONDALE -- Southern Illinois safety Jeremy Chinn and tight end Nigel Kilby were both named to the prestigious Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List on Wednesday.
The Senior Bowl is the top postseason all-star game in college football. Two teams made up of 110 of the nation's top players will gather in Mobile, Alabama next January for a week of practices with NFL coaching staffs leading up to the game on Jan. 29, 2020.
A preseason All-American, Chinn is one of five FCS safeties on the watch list. Last season, Chinn led the Salukis in interceptions (3) and pass breakups (9) and also forced two fumbles and blocked a field goal. A starter since his freshman season, he ranks among the school's career leaders in three categories -- interceptions (13th/9), pass breakups (3rd/24) and forced fumbles (2nd/6).
The 6-foot-8-inch Kilby was one of three FCS tight ends added to the watch list. Of his 16 receptions in 2018, six of them went for touchdowns. Against South Dakota, he caught seven passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Kilby began his career at Eastern Michigan before transferring to Garden City Community College and then SIU.
