A resident and a firefighter suffered minor injuries from a house fire in Crystal Lake Monday evening, officials said.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded at 11:15 p.m. to the 1300 block of Gardina Vista Street and found the garage of the home engulfed in flames, according to Deputy Chief Chris Olsen.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and all of the home's residents were able to escape the home before firefighters arrived, Olsen said, adding that one resident and one firefighter were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Damages were estimated at about $50,000; the cause is under investigation.

Firefighters from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills, Barrington-Countryside, Carpentersville, Cary, East Dundee, Huntley, Marengo, McHenry, Richmond, Union, Wauconda and Wonder Lake all assisted in the response. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
