The Stage Company will open its latest production, the Thornton Wilder classic "Our Town," this coming Friday at the Varsity Center in downtown Carbondale.
Helmed by director Jenn Caudell and assistant director David Rush, the story follows the small town of Grover's Corners through three acts.
Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props and sets, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry and eventually -- in one of the most famous scenes in American theater -- die.
The cast includes Gypsy Obermiller, Kathleen McDaniel, Alysia Woodworth, Paul Vanni, Leigh Irivn, Joel Irvin, Shay Miller-Malone, Lauran Hirschi, Grant Geyman and Jeremy Osinga.
Joining Caudell and Rush behind the scenes are stage manager Sarah Curtis, assistant stage manager Ananda Syler, costume designer Ruth Dougherty, lighting designer Jon Alexander and light board operator Dustin Hageland. Caudell also is serving as scenic and sound designer.
• "Our Town" will play July 12 to 14 and 18 to 21. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students. Tickets are only $7 on Thursday, July 18.
