HIGHLAND -- The Marion High School softball team traveled to Highland on Tuesday and won 5-4 in what was probably the final game of the regular season.

The Lady Wildcats (21-3) jumped out to a 5-0 lead with home runs from freshman Karris Rhine and senior Keira Hance, then held on for the win after Highland rallied.

Marion was scheduled to play Belleville West on Friday, but that game has been canceled to allow the Maroons to play at conference game.

The Lady Cats play on Tuesday at the Carbondale 3A Regional against either Massac County or Carterville in the semifinals. Massac County is one of the teams to beat Marion this season.
