MARION -- Blake Clark netted a historic hat trick as the Marion High School girls soccer team rolled to a 10-0 win over Centralia in the semifinals of the Marion 2A Regional on Tuesday evening at Wildcat Stadium.
Clark's three goals put her at 55 total this season, which passed up her own season record of 52 from last year. The senior also pushed her career total to 143, which puts her as the school's all-time leader just ahead of Jessie Crabtree.
Marissa Basi also collected a pair of assists to give her 34 for the season, improving her own school record total. Basi had a then-record 32 last season as a junior.
Clark and Basi will both remain teammates at Southern Illinois University this fall.
Marion jumped out to a quick lead against Centralia and led 8-0 at the half.
The Lady Wildcats will now face Carterville-Herrin in the regional championship match on Friday at 6 p.m.
Carterville-Herrin defeated Mt. Vernon, 3-1, in the other semifinal Tuesday night.
Marion played Carterville-Herrin last week and won 9-0 for a school-record 18th win of the season. The Lady Wildcats are now 19-6.
The winner of Friday's match advances to the Bethalto Civic Memorial Sectional and plays on Wednesday, May 22, against the winner of the Chatham Glenwood Regional.
