Civil War re-enactments Friday through Sunday

PINCKNEYVILLE -- More than 1,400 students from all throughout Southern Illinois will descend upon Pyramid State Park Friday morning to witness battle re-enactments of the Civil War.

The festivities open to the public at 8 a.m. that day. Special military programs for each camp will commence at 1 p.m.

This Saturday will feature the Battle of Reed's Bridge and Alexander's Bridge with camps opening to the public at 8 a.m. and the exercise to get underway at 10 a.m. A secondary battle is set for 2 p.m.

And on Sunday, camps reopen at 8 a.m. A church service will follow at 9. The Battle of Belmont is slated for 2:30. The camps close at 3:30.

In addition to the battles, there will be demonstrations and vendors.

Tickets are $10 per adult. Children 12 and under get in free with an adult. Each day's events will be conducted rain or shine.
