DU QUOIN -- Seniors Haley Williams and Nick Depyatic were chosen as King and Queen of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Sweetheart Dance this past weekend.
The 18-year-old Williams is the daughter of Brandi and Jason Vancil and the late Mark Williams. She is the granddaughter of Bruce and Brenda Jokish. In addition to being a fourth-year member of FCCLA, Haley has participated in volleyball, Pep Club, FBLA and CNA. Her future plans are to attend the Rend Lake College nursing program this fall and later attain her master's degree in nursing.
Other queen candidates included: Madison Davis, Katie Smith and Avery Waller.
The 17-year-old Depyatic is the son of Rudy and Sheri Depyatic. He is the grandson of Dale and Janet Crews. Nick is a first-year member of FCCLA. He is also active in football, baseball, FCA and FBLA.
The other king candidate was Joshua Heape,
Jacqueline Crain, Ella Hirsch, Olivia Chapman, Chloe Hess, Cibyl Mercier, Faith McCormick, Sophie Miller and Cameron Shivley served as candle bearers.
Crown bearer was Leeah Geiger and scepter bearer was Lincoln Geiger. King crown bearer was Cannon Spiller.
Julien Melendez and Nick Saunders served as escorts.
Freshman attendant was Lexi Cobin. Sophomore attendant was Madelyn Saul. Junior attendant was Shelby Harris and senior attendant was Mackenzie Sizemore.
Mylee Walker served as freshman princess. Raylee Carroll was sophomore princess. Chloe Prather was junior princess and Megan Dale was senior princess.
