DU QUOIN -- A ministry project of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin involves the making and donating of cookies by church members to first responders, hospital staffers, library employees and city workers on Valentine's Day.

According to Janet Bean, an event organizer, the project is known as "To Du Quoin With Love."

Several women of the church gathered Wednesday to bake cookies together. Other members baked cookies in their homes and delivered them to the church for distribution.

"Cookies were boxed and then delivered early Thursday morning, as an outreach opportunity to say thank you to so many that serve our community," Bean said. "The church's goal was to provide 120 dozen cookies for this outreach."
